We’ve been talking a lot about the 2015 Chevy Colorado all year, but the new midsize truck just began shipping to dealerships last week. To make things easier, consider this your one-stop shop for information on the 2015 Colorado, with all the info you need before you go out and pick the model that’s suited to your needs.
“Many people like the ‘can-do’ spirit of a truck, but they want a vehicle that is easier to maneuver in traffic and easier to park at work or at home,” said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. “For them, bigger is not necessarily better. Also, they don’t want to give up the latest in convenience and safety features, which aren’t available on current midsize pickups. For those customers, the new Chevrolet Colorado is the perfect choice.”
The Colorado is offered in three trim levels: WT, LT, and Z71. Configurations for the mid-size truck include extended cab (6’2” bed), crew cab–short box (5’2” bed), and crew cab–long box (6’2” bed).
Smaller Body, Bigger Power
Despite the fact that the Colorado is a smaller truck, it still packs an impressive punch. The Colorado is available with a 2.5-liter or a 3.6-liter engine; the 2.5-liter is good for 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque, and the 3.6-liter produces 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque.
The Colorado makes no trades on efficiency though. Even with the power beneath the hood, the 2.5-liter models can get up 27 mpg on the highway, and the 3.6-liters are close behind at 26 mpg.
Safety Guaranteed
The 2015 Chevy Colorado is geared for occupant safety. Standard safety features include six airbags, large rearview mirrors, a rear-vision camera, and the StabiliTrak stability control system on the Z71 trim.
Drivers can also opt for a Safety Package on the LT trim that includes Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.
Innovative Design, Inside and Out
The exterior design of the 2015 Chevy Colorado is entirely unique in the world of pickups. Standout features include the taller bed sides, triple-sealed doors inlaid in the body sides, and active aero grille shutters.
Of course, a Chevy truck wouldn’t be a Chevy truck without these standard and optional features: 13 tie-down locations, bed rail and tailgate protectors, CornerStep rear bumper, EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate, factory-installed spray-in bed liner, locking tailgate, and two-tier loading. The WT sits on 16-inch steel wheels (aluminum available); the LT sits on 17-inch aluminum wheels (18-inch available); and the Z71 sits on 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Drivers can choose among Black, Brownstone Metallic, Cyber Gray Metallic, Rainforest Green Metallic, Red Hot, Red Rock Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, and Summit White for the exterior.
Interior features for the 2015 Chevy Colorado include halo lighting on key controls, an open area at the front of the center console to use for phone charging, and a sculpted headliner to produce more headroom.
Standard for the dual-firm foam seats is a high-wear, stain-resistant cloth, though leather is available.
Drivers will also find a 4.2-inch diagonal color radio (WT) or an 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen (LT and Z71), as well as a Bose® premium seven-speaker sound system on the LT and Z71, cruise control, four USB ports, and more. Some features that are standard on the Z71 alone include a rear window defogger, heated front seats, and a remote vehicle starter.
Hot Tech
Chevrolet MyLink is standard on the LT and Z71 trims, bringing OnStar connectivity and Siri Eyes Free to the driving experience. Other features include Pandora, Gracenote®, and hands-free voice control.
Drivers will also have access to the patent-pending GearOn™ system for storage in the truck bed.
More Choices
The addition of the 2015 Chevy Colorado means options to drivers in the market for a new truck. The Colorado rounds out the lineup that also includes the Silverado 1500, the Silverado 2500 HD, the Silverado 3500 HD; and the SUVs, the Tahoe and Suburban.
The all-new 2015 Colorado will be appearing in dealerships very soon.
