Introducing the 2015 Ram ProMaster City: Photos and Videos

2015 Ram ProMaster City

The all-new 2015 Ram ProMaster City

Yesterday, Ram Truck gave us all the juicy details on the all-new 2015 Ram ProMaster City, which is based on the Fiat Doblò in Europe, a vehicle that has been named International Van of the Year, twice. The 2015 Ram ProMaster City will be available in the two-seat Tradesman cargo van and the five-seat passenger Wagon configurations.

Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Ram Truck Brand, with the 2015 Ram ProMaster City

According to Ram, the ProMaster City is best-in-class where it counts, including in performance, cargo area, payload capacity, and fuel economy (though no mileage estimates were initially provided).

“As businesses strive for lower costs, the demand for a smaller, more efficient van has increased and Ram Commercial is answering the bell with the all-new ProMaster City,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Years ago, the selection of delivery and cargo vehicles was limited and those offerings didn’t focus on cost of ownership. Today all of that has changed with the recent introduction of the full-size Ram ProMaster, and the now the Ram ProMaster City.”

In the very, very 1990s classroom video below, you can hear Bob Hegbloom (Director of Ram Truck) and Mike Cairns (Director of Ram Truck Engineering) speak a little bit more to the ProMaster City’s credentials, but you can also read up on all of the specs and features below.

Hegbloom and Cairns Discuss 2015 Ram ProMaster City

The 2015 Ram ProMaster City has a steel unibody design that is crucial for the van to achieve its best-in-class payload capacity of 1,883 pounds. It’s also got a best-in-class wheelbase of 122.4 inches.

The Ram ProMaster City is, as expected, incredibly upfitter-friendly, with a number of upfit systems available through Mopar.

2015 Ram ProMaster City: Under the Hood

The front-wheel-drive 2015 ProMaster City van is powered by a 2.4-liter Tigershark I-4 engine with MultiAir2 technology. That engine is paired with a segment-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission. The ProMaster City is good for a best-in-class (tired of hearing that yet?) horsepower rating of 178, as well as 174 lb-ft of torque, and can rocket from 0 to 60 in 9.8 seconds.

2015 Ram ProMaster City: Exterior

Chrysler Group describes the 2015 ProMaster City as having “smooth body lines, wraparound bumpers, and twin-reflector headlamp clusters.” It’s also got a short hood for easy maneuverability and high bumpers to keep the lighting safe in the event of an accident.

Each side features a sliding door that provides 26 inches of open space to pass through and to access the cargo compartment. The rear houses 60/40 split swing doors that open toward the driver side (the side with the traffic, that is), that way drivers don’t have to maneuver around the door when bringing large items to the curb. The doors initially open 90 degrees but with one push of a button, they can open to 180 degrees.

The doors can be opened to 180 degrees, if necessary.

Roof racks and load rails are available through Mopar and can hold up to 154 pounds.

2015 Ram ProMaster City: Interior

The cargo area is arguably the most important aspect of any van like the ProMaster City. Luckily, Ram’s newest addition to the commercial vehicle lineup boasts a best-in-class volume (are you surprised?) of 131.7 cubic feet in the Tradesman cargo van version. The passenger Wagon adds a three-passenger second row of seating.

The cargo area is 60.4 inches wide and 51.8 inches high, with a step-in height of just 21.5 inches.

Ram also promises that the interior is geared to be incredibly ergonomic and practical.

2015 Ram ProMaster City: Technology

The Ram ProMaster City features Chrysler’s UConnect system, which uses Bluetooth technology to keep drivers connected and safe. It comes complete with a full-color, five-inch touchscreen, available with GPS navigation. In addition, the 2015 ProMaster City features 34 active and passive safety features. On top of that, the ProMaster City boasts electronic stability control and an available ParkView backup camera and ParkSense.

A ParkView backup camera and ParkSense will be available.

Rest assured, the 2015 ProMaster City underwent extensive testing. All test models endured 3/36 Reliability Testing: three months of testing over 36,000 miles.

The ProMaster City has been through extensive testing.

The ProMaster City will be offered in eight configurations:
