Kelly MacDonald has been named the new chief marketing officer for GMC and Chevrolet in the Middle East and Africa, effective Sept. 11. MacDonald has been a part of General Motors since 2016, when she joined on as the senior manager of GMC Advertising and Media. Under her guidance, GMC launched its Like a Pro campaign, which has been integral in driving interest in new GMC products, as well as the launch campaign for the next-generation Sierra.
As the CMO for both brands in the region, MacDonald will report to GM Africa and Middle East President and Managing Director John Roth. Roth says that he anticipates Kelly will be a considerable asset for GM, producing “hyperlocal marketing campaigns that resonate with consumers in the region, ensuring the legacy of both brands continues to thrive.”

“It is an exciting time to be in the automotive industry, especially in a region with a history of adopting the latest innovations, blazing a trail for international markets to follow,” said MacDonald. “I look forward to working with our teams and dealers to provide customers with best-in-class experiences and vehicles.”
Though MacDonald is a relative newcomer to General Motors, her experience in automotive marketing goes back 20 years and through multiple organizations. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Michigan State University in 1996, MacDonald moved directly into the role of district parts manager for Toyota in Cincinnati. Past roles include stints as the marketing manager for Dodge and Mopar and senior manager of marketing strategy for Nissan and Infiniti.
