Kevin Harvick’s Shove of Jimmie Johnson Inspires Mortal Kombat Parody

Kevin Harvick Jimmie Johnson Mortal Kombat parody video

After Sunday’s opening race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup at Chicagoland Speedway, NASCAR drivers and Chevrolet teammates Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick got into a little brouhaha. Harvick was apparently angry that Johnson’s No. 48 Chevy SS had bumped his No. 4 car during the race, puncturing a tire and leading to his eventual crash.

When Johnson went over to Harvick’s motor coach in the drivers’ lot to explain himself, Kevin attacked Jimmie’s chest with something that was halfway between a shove and a punch—a “puve,” or a “shunch,” if you will.

NASCAR has announced that Harvick won’t face any penalties for his unprovoked shunch, and in a few days the whole incident will probably blow over—but not before YouTubers have had their fun with it.

Here’s a pretty funny compilation of parodies that user Nascar Casm came up with:

All in all, Nascar Casm crams references to Mortal Kombat, Billy Blanks’ Taebo, professional wrestling, Happy Gilmore, Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” Benny Hill/Yakety Sax, Napoleon Dynamite, and the David Fincher film Fight Club into just two minutes and twenty seconds. Not bad!

If you enjoyed this video, you’ll probably also like this YouTuber’s parody of the Regan Smith and Ty Dillon tussle from last month, which he satirized by adding retro Batman-style word bubbles:

Keep up the good work, Nascar Casm.
