In case you missed it, the 2019 Chicago Auto Show closed to the public on Monday. Our team was able to attend the media days earlier this month, where they witnessed the debut of the 2020 Kia Sportage. The Korean automaker has a history of unveiling some of its most intriguing production and concept vehicles in Chicago, including the hybrid Niro in 2016 as well as the Sportage Convertible back in 1998.

Show Off Your Style: Add some official Kia accessories to your ride

It makes sense for Kia to introduce so many vehicles at the largest auto show in the nation, as many who attend are looking for inspiration for their next purchase. “According to Foresight Research, nearly 70 percent of adults who visit the Chicago Auto Show are in the market to purchase a vehicle within 12 months. That’s what makes the Chicago show stand out from other shows and experiential events, further demonstrating the importance of automaker participation,” said Ray Scarpelli Jr., 2019 Chicago Auto Show chairman.

What’s new for the 2020 Kia Sportage?

On the outside, the refreshed 2020 Sportage boasts new front and rear fascias, a new metallic Steel Grey exterior color, and new headlights with available LED turn indicators. Other upgraded features include: projector-beam fog lights, tail light trim, exhaust tip, rear bumper, skid plate, front grille, alloy wheels, and air intakes.

Thinking of Buying? Determine the value of your trade-in vehicle first

Kia was all about adding comfort and convenience to the award-winning Sportage. Inside, you’ll find a newly designed steering wheel and a standard 8-inch touch-screen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available add-ons include a navigation system, SOFINO leatherette seating surfaces, and a smartphone wireless charging tray.

Rounding out the updates on the 2020 Kia Sportage are, of course, available safety features like Driver Attention Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Start & Stop, Forward Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, and High Beam Assist. Across its three trims, the 2019 Sportage offered a handful of safety systems, but it wasn’t quite the large suite that Kia is offering for its new model.

The 2020 Sportage is slated to go on sale within the first half of this year, with pricing to be announced closer to the on-sale date.
