Kia and L.A. Clippers Give Away ‘Griffin Force’ Capes at Heat Game

We were a little skeptical of Kia’s new “Griffin Force” ad campaign for the all-new 2014 Optima, but so far, the awkward and comedic stylings of both Blake Griffin and Jack McBrayer have been a hit.  Below you’ll find one of our favorites.

The two set out to fight the automotive crime of not choosing a Kia Optima, and if they are fighting crime, of course they have capes.  Kia recently teamed up with Griffin’s team, the L.A. Clippers, to give away “Griffin Force” capes when the Clippers faced the Miami Heat on February 5th.

Unfortunately, the capes weren’t enough to propel the Clippers to victory, as they lost to the Heat 116-112, but Kia is still happy about the opportunity to promote the new Optima through the Korean automaker’s partnership with Griffin.

“We’re big fans of basketball at Kia, and Blake Griffin has become an important part of building awareness and consideration for our growing brand,” said Tim Chaney, vice president of marketing at Kia, in a press release. “Amplifying our Optima advertising campaign with Cape Night allows us engage fans in a fun way, leverage social media channels – and cheer on Blake and the team as they continue their successful season.”
