Kia Motors September Sales Propelled by Sportage CUV and Niro Hybrid

The Sportage CUV and Niro hybrid made quite the selling in September for Kia Motors America. Both models posted significant gains, with the September sales of the Sportage ranking as its best yet. According to the automaker, the Niro Hybrid was up 13% compared to the same time last year while the Sportage earned a 17% increase. When compared with 2017 September sales, the Kia Optima made substantial strides in 2018 with a 10% increase in units sold.

“As we begin the fourth and final quarter of 2018, three of Kia’s most popular models Optima, Niro and Sportage posted double-digit sales gains year-over-year,” said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. “We are confident that the end of 2018 will be a strong one for Kia and that momentum we build now will continue well into the 2019 calendar year.”

The 2018 Kia Sportage is available at three trim levels, LX, EX, and SX Turbo. The standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with gasoline direct injection and dual continuously variable valve timing is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic® to churn out 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

The available 2.0-liter I-4 engine with turbocharger paired to a six-speed automatic transmission earns the 2018 Kia Optima SX a horsepower rating of 245 and 260 lb-ft of torque. Standard safety features in the 2018 Optima include Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Detection, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
