The Kia Sedona helped the brand achieve an increase in August and year-over-year sales

Kia is considered the highest-scoring nameplate in the industry for Initial Quality according to JD Power, and it’s for a good reason. The South Korean carmaker recently announced its August sales, and it has managed to once again post an impressive sales increase of 3.8%.

This is our shocked face:

“Despite signs that industry-wide sales may have peaked in 2015, Kia is up nearly four percent through August on the strength of double digit year-over-year increases for Rio, Forte, Sportage, and Sedona,” said Michael Sprague, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for Kia Motors America.

The Rio almost doubled the sales of last August, posting a total sales of 3,325 units compared to August 2015’s 1,734. There was also a significant increase for the Kia Forte, which posted 8,307 sales for last month, compared to 6,862 in August 2015. This made this August the Forte’s best-ever August sales month since the compact car was introduced.

Kia’s Sedona minivan also had one of the highest increases, going from 2,545 units in August 2015 to 5,147 in August 2016—more than doubling its sales numbers. The Sportage crossover SUV also saw a bit of an increase with 6,888 units compared to last year’s 5,749.

Because of these awesome numbers, Kia has managed to increase its year-to-date numbers significantly. At this point in 2015, the South Korean carmaker had sold a total of 426,160 units. This year, it has sold 442,544, which is a 3.8% increase.
