Kia will be the exclusive Presenting Sponsor for the upcoming inaugural YouTube Music Awards, a unique experience bringing a diverse array of live performances to music fans around the world on November 3.

YouTube Music AwardsThe first YouTube Music Awards will present live performances and collaborations from some of music’s most prominent stars, including Lady Gaga (who lent her latest single “Applause” to Kia’s latest spots for the 2014 Soul), Eminem, and Arcade Fire.  A series of concert events the world over will be streamed on YouTube on November 3 beginning in Kia’s native Seoul  (which means you can expect to witness the last twenty seconds worth of “Gangnam Style” and Psy’s fifteen minutes of fame) and moving into Moscow, London, Brazil, and concluding with the awards show proper at Pier 36 in New York.

Awards nominations will be announced October 17 and online voting will open to allow YouTube users to cast their votes for their favorite artists before the November 2 cutoff.

“The YouTube Music Awards will be a first in digital and music entertainment and Kia is proud to be the presenting sponsor of this event,” said Soon-Nam Lee, vice president of marketing, Kia Motors Corporation, in the company’s official press release.  “Digital media has played a pivotal role in how we connect with our customers, and with more consumers going on-line every day to engage with content, it is only natural that we lead the way with this YouTube sponsorship.”

There is currently no word on what Kia’s level of involvement will be in the events and what vehicles might showcase.  And while no categories for the YouTube Music Awards have been announced, we’d like to suggest the category of “Most Irritating Spoken Word Performance By A Guy Yelling in Terror at Video Games”  and an additional award created specifically to honor guys who really, really like double rainbows.   If only they could find a way to put “Yosemitebear” behind the wheel of a 2014 Kia Sorento…so intense!
