It’s been over three years since we’ve gotten new music from New Zealand singer-songwriter, Lorde, and fans are anxiously awaiting her return to the music scene. While the musician has been active online, tweeting about things that ordinary 20-year-olds would, it wasn’t until early 2017 that she announced she would be performing at Coachella this April. This news had fans wondering when new music would arrive. Well, that time is now and the singer has released some car-themed teasers ahead of her new single’s release.
Lorde gives the “green light” on new music
Officially getting released tomorrow (2pm NYC time), Lorde’s new single will reportedly be called, “Green Light.” The title makes sense, considering many of the teaser photos and clips for the new tune have been car-related. On February 27th, the New Zealander tweeted, “u hungry?” with a subsequent link to imwaitingforit.com. That site hosted short video clips that have changed every day since. One of these teasers included Lorde snacking in the back seat of a car while another portrayed the singer walking along a busy highway.
The mysterious Auckland scavenger hunt
Things got even more interesting on Tuesday night, when Lorde tweeted out three locations that Auckland fans could get more hints about her upcoming single. Items at each location included parked cars with green smoke emerging from the windows, neon green signs with potential lyrics on them, and the side of some buildings had the song’s title projected on it.

And now, we wait…
For now, I’ll just be over here, counting down the hours until the song is released and keeping my eyes on the official Lorde YouTube page for the corresponding (hopefully car-related) music video directed by Grant Singer, who has worked on videos for artists like The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, and Ariana Grande.

When he’s not devoting his time to researching engine specs and other oh-so-exciting car details, he can be found enjoying time with his wife and dogs. See more articles by Ben.
