Man U Goes to Michigan for Real Madrid vs. Manchester United Match
The Guinness International Champions Cup Real Madrid vs. Manchester United match will be held this Saturday, August 2nd, at the University of Michigan’s “Big House” in Ann Arbor. Taking on the formidable Real Madrid is Chevy’s own team (well, Chevy sponsors the shirts; they can’t take much credit for anything else), Manchester United.
Those spectacular Chevy-emblazoned shirts will make their appearance on the field during Man U’s first visit to Chevy’s home state. And, in case someone missed the fact that Chevy is a thing, the Bowtie Brand will also steal the spotlight as the presenter of Saturday’s Guinness International Champions Cup Real Madrid vs. Manchester United match, so that everyone will know that Chevy is a thing.
“Being the Official Vehicle of the ICC and the presenting sponsor of this match is an important and proud moment for the Chevrolet family, including our thousands of employees and vast dealer network across the state and the country,” said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer, Global Chevrolet. “This match, and Chevrolet’s partnership with Manchester United, is about more than a shirt sponsorship. It’s about using the power of play and the passion for this sport to make a positive impact around the world. So through our ‘What Do You #PlayFor?’ campaign, we want to make sure Manchester United’s first visit to the state of Michigan will benefit the community.”
Chevy recently gave fans the chance to win tickets to the Real Madrid vs. Manchester United match. (Sorry though, you missed your chance.) Proceeds from the contest benefited the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron’s Ball.
Chevy will also have a display at Pioneer High School tomorrow for the match, with Man U legends, Bryan Robinson and Andy Cole, on hand to meet fans, who can take part in a soccer skills challenge and go head-to-head with a virtual soccer simulator.
Kickoff is tomorrow at 4pm at Michigan Stadium.
