Earlier this year, Mazda celebrated the Miata’s big 3-0 with a limited-edition MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition. Fans went wild — and bought all 3,000 models in under an hour, and even though Mazda added an additional 143 units for sale in the United States, there still weren’t enough roadsters to go around.

Power and Prestige: Is Mazda a new luxury brand?

Now, some of the first MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition models have begun to arrive. Die-hard Mazda fans, like Gerald Blum in St. Petersburg, Florida, are already head-over-heels for the new roadster.

“What I love most about Mazda is the experience of driving the car,” Blum explained. “…I’m thrilled to be among the first to get the new MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary and cannot take my eyes off the brilliant Racing Orange paint scheme. Orange is the new red!”

Orange is the new red, indeed. Although Blum already has a 2016 Soul Red Crystal MX-5 Miata Club, he said it was a “no-brainer” to order the 30th Anniversary Edition Miata.

About the MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition

Every 30th Anniversary Miata comes in Racing Orange, but that’s not all that’s unique about this special model. It sports Rays forged aluminum wheels, Recaro seats, orange brake calipers, and orange accents throughout the cabin, including the seats, door trim, shifter, and dashboard. It also boasts a nine-speaker Bose sound system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Manual models received Bilstein dampers. It was available in both hardtop and soft-top variants, and 60 percent of buyers opted for the soft top. Of course, all models flaunt a 30th Anniversary Badge with a unique production number.
