It seems that everyone is celebrating that most universal of holidays: National Dog Day. So, in honor of our hairy pals, Autotrader has announced its list of “Best Cars for Dog Lovers.” And what car would you think would receive this honor but the Mazda3?
The Mazda3 was one of nine vehicles to receive this honor, based on criteria like fold-flat rear seats (to fit in carriers), a rear lift gate (for the same reason), low ride height (so that dogs won’t accidentally strain themselves getting in or out), an airy cabin (dogs are very susceptible to heatstroke), and underfloor storage (to leave more room for dogs to move about).
This is great news for dog owners who are shopping for a vehicle. According to Autotrader, over 56% of dog owners check that their prospective cars are good for pets, with about 25% considering going so far as bringing their pet on a test drive.
This is Mazda’s first win for this award, and the 16th award this year for the Mazda3. There is one more piece of good news for dog owners, though: the Mazda3 is available for the affordable price of $17,845.
