Seven-time F1 Champion Michael Schumacher is in critical condition in France after a skiing accident early Sunday

Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is being listed in critical condition in France after a skiing accident in the French Alps.  According to a release from CHU Grenoble, Schumacher was admitted earlier this afternoon in a coma and suffering from serious cranial trauma that would require immediate neurosurgical intervention.

According to Jalopnik, Schumacher’s injury was originally not considered serious, and there was speculation that the F1 legend was conscious and talking after striking his head on a rock while skiing with his 14-year-old son.  A detailed timeline (in French) explains that the accident occurred just prior to 11 am, and that Schumacher was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.  The timeline explains that Schumacher arrived via airlift at Moutiers hospital around 11:53, but was then transferred to Grenoble at 12:45.

We will keep you updated on the condition of Michael Schumacher and on the details of his accident as more details become available.
