The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has helped the brand post a yearly sales increase of 22%

Mitsubishi’s production might be moving out of the United States, but its US sales aren’t suffering. The Japanese carmaker recently reported a 22.8% increase in sales over 2014, making 2015 its best yearly sales since 2008. Total sales for December were 7,887, helping Mitsubishi continue its 22 consecutive months of year-over-year sales increases.

“2015 was a monumental year for Mitsubishi Motors in many ways: we reported sales increases every month over the prior year, our dealer network has strengthened and we successfully launched the new 2016 Outlander. Most importantly, we’re poised to repeat our success in 2016,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice preside for Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Mitsubishi’s strategy for the US is all about crossover SUVs and the launch of the 2017 Mirage G4. In 2015 both Outlander and Outlander Sport showed strong demand at dealerships and posted total sales of 5,292, up 37.4% over the previous year.”

Leading Mitsubishi’s sales increase were the 2016 Outlander and Outlander Sport crossovers. The Outlander has posted a December sales increase of 76.6% compared to December 2014 with a total sales number of 1,936. The Outlander Sport has also posed a 21.8% increase year-over-year with a total sales number of 3,356. This was the Outlander Sport’s best December ever.

Now, these sales are sure to get even better with the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer arriving on dealer lots later this month. The 2016 Outlander Sport will also begin production this month, arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of 2016.
