We are finally getting into the swing of auto show season, which can mean one thing and one thing only: getting teaser images that offer up mere snatches of concept and production vehicles set to bow over the next several months. It’s as tried and true a fall tradition as the leaves changing color and falling from the trees, Halloween decorations going up in stores, and an impending sense of dread about everything from overeating on Thanksgiving to having to buy your mother-in-law a gift she won’t hate.
The newest teaser off the line comes from Mitsubishi, who will leverage the upcoming 45th Tokyo Motor Show to “wave the flag under new circumstances to usher a new era of long term growth and sustainable development, returning to where it belongs to better embrace the future.” And it intends to do all this—all of it—with the almost-all-caps MITSUBISHI e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT, a flagship crossover concept.
Back to the Beginning: Looking back on a century of Mitsubishi Motors
Of the MITSUBISHI e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT, the automaker writes: “This very-high-performance automobile will blend Mitsubishi Motors’ signature 4WD and electric powertrain know-how with advanced Artificial Intelligence technology under a low slung aerodynamic SUV Coupe shape.” To tease it, Mitsubishi released a glimpse at its shapely and angular rear. You’ve got lots and lots (and lots) of lines and angles, a steeply-sloped and coupe-like rear window, and a floating c-pillar look.
It’s also got some weird looking side mirrors that kind of look like little baby T-Rex arms. That’s pretty rad.
The MITSUBISHI e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT, which Mitsubishi calls a “beacon” for its ambition to explore and to return to its former glory, will likely bow during the Tokyo Motor Show’s press days between October 25th-26th. Stay tuned.
