The 2019 Lincoln Navigator is a hot-selling, tech-laden, powerful, and luxurious full-size SUV that, oh, not for nothing, is also pretty great if you have a family that needs lugged around. Confirming as much is the Navigator’s spot on the Edmunds 2019 Best Family Car Awards list, on which it earned the top honor for large luxury SUVs.
The Navigator toppled its competition in 30 categories, winning out for the intuitiveness of its technology, spaciousness of its interior, comprehensiveness of its safety offerings, and power of its turbo V6.

“With bold new styling, a stout 450-hp V6 engine, seating for seven or eight adults, massive cargo space and modern tech, the Navigator is built to haul families and their things in supreme comfort,” writes Edmunds. “There’s no shortage of luxury touches. The third-row seats are power-reclining, while the optional second-row captain’s chairs provide outstanding legroom. Active noise-canceling puts the outside world on mute, while a rear-seat entertainment system streams content to 10-inch displays. … Today’s Navigator is truly next-level.”
When it comes to winning awards, the new Navigator has very much been next-level. The next-gen Navigator is the first American vehicle to earn the top score in the J.D. Power APEAL Study, it won the 2018 North American Truck of the Year award, and it recently nabbed the Best Large Luxury SUV award in the Good Housekeeping 2019 Best New Car Awards. This also isn’t the first time Edmunds has lauded the Navigator: It gave the SUV its Buyers Most Wanted Award prior to its release and honored it with the Editors’ Choice Award for Best Luxury SUV earlier this year.
