A Camping World RV dealership continues to take heat from the Statesville city government over flying a huge American flag too close to I-77.
Statesville, North Carolina, initially took issue with the dealership over its flag’s size back in 2015, but the company’s president and CEO, Marcus Lemonis, insists that it will not be coming down.
The city states that any flag that flies 100 feet near a freeway cannot exceed 25 feet by 40 feet. The Statesville dealership’s flag practically doubles that size with its 40-by-80-foot American flag.
While the city has attempted compromise with Camping World by allowing a larger flag than regulation, the dealership has stuck to its guns, flying the giant stars and stripes in tribute to the country’s fallen heroes and veterans.

According to a Facebook post by Camping World, the city government’s gloves are off. Statesville has issued a lawsuit that will fine the dealership $50 every day that Camping World leaves Old Glory flying.
This amount could add up quickly, as Lemonis insists that the fight will continue, even if the city increases its fine to $500 per day.

Camping World asks its fans to sign a petition at Change.org to fight the lawsuit. Its goal is to collect 300,000 signatures. As of this morning, that number stands at 213,500.
