Ford Named Crossover of the Year by wheels Magazine

The Ford Edge was named Crossover of the Year by wheels magazine earlier this month at the publication’s ninth annual Car of the Year awards gala in Dubai. The Edge, which was also a finalist for wheels’ Readers’ Choice Award, has won a number of awards since launching in the Middle East, including Automobile Car of the Year in Lebanon and Automan Car of the Year in Oman. The wheels Car of the Year awards are the largest independent automotive awards in the region.

“Ford vehicles have a deserved reputation for being the most fun to drive, and with the dynamic technology packages we have developed for the Ford Edge, including Ford Adaptive Steering, enhanced Active Park Assist, and the new powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine on the Sport variant, we have set a new standard in the CUV segment,” said Crystal Worthem, director of Marketing, Ford Middle East and Africa. “To receive such a coveted award is confirmation of Ford’s continued leading presence in this important segment.”

The Edge is offered with three engine options: a 2.0-liter EcoBoost twin-scroll turbocharged four cylinder, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, and 3.5-liter V6, all of which are offered with standard six-speed automatic transmission and dual exhaust.

Among the features that have made it a hit with customers is SYNC 3 with language support—both text and voice—for Arabic-speaking drivers and 3D navigation including a Mecca compass. The Edge is also offered with Ford Adaptive Steering, which makes driving more intuitive at different speeds, and a wide stance that makes for more interior space and a bolder exterior look.
