The Nissan Maxima entered its current generation with the 2016 model year, which was revealed (rather dramatically) in a 2015 Super Bowl commercial. It was the first use of Nissan’s new style language, featuring a dramatic front-end, new grille, and headlight shape. It was just the latest in a long line of vehicles bearing the Maxima badge, with the first Nissan Maxima making it to the North American market in 1980.
In advance of the event at the LA Auto Show, Nissan released a stock photo of the 2019 Maxima. It doesn’t seem as if there are enough changes to the vehicle to warrant a new generation designation. The brand stated that the new Maxima has an updated exterior for a fresh new look, and it will offer Nissan Safety Shield 360 technology. This suite of features includes safety and driver-assist tech to help the Maxima navigate rapidly-changing road conditions.
As of this article’s publication, Nissan is offering few details about the upcoming 2019 Nissan Maxima. We do know that it is slated to go on sale in December, but so far that was offered with no delivery estimates. We’ll be watching the event in November closely to see what drivers can expect from Nissan’s flagship sedan, the four-door sports car.
