Nissan Sales Climb 16 Percent in August Thanks to Kicks, Rogue

Nissan brand sales got a major boost in August from several key vehicles, rising 16.2 percent year-over-year with a total of 118,045 vehicles delivered. Among the big gainers for the month were the Nissan Kicks and Rogue, both of which scored August sales records.

The Kicks saw its sales jump 82 percent year-over-year to 7,058 vehicles, and the Rogue saw its sales increase 24.6 percent to 41,629 vehicles delivered. Not only was the Rogue Nissan’s best-selling vehicle for the month by far, but it also managed to outsell every Nissan car combined, which totaled 41,533 units.

Nonetheless, the 41,533 cars sold by Nissan in August was good for a 16.1 percent year-over-year gain. Key to this growth was the Nissan Altima — up 50.1 percent at 22,403 units — as well as the Maxima, which saw sales increase 30.2 percent at 3,548 vehicles.

Nissan truck/SUV/van sales were up 16.3 percent on the whole at 76,512 vehicles. In addition to the Rogue and Kicks, the TITAN saw its sales increase 28.8 percent at 5,888 vehicles, and the Nissan NV saw sales increase 76.9 percent at 2,503 vehicles.

Vehicles produced in North America were up 13.6 percent at 87,847 vehicles sold, with North American-built cars up 16.5 percent at 41,278 vehicles and North American-built trucks up 11.2 percent at 46,569 vehicles. Import vehicles were up 24.4 percent at 30,198 sold, with trucks up 25.2 percent at 29,943 sold.

Through August, Nissan Division sales total 862,243 vehicles, down 5.2 percent year-over-year. Car sales are down 8.2 percent at 366,766 delivered, and truck sales are down 2.8 percent at 495,477 units.
