Nissan Joins Circle of Women Leadership Development Program
TBWA\Worldwide, a global advertising firm, runs a leadership development program for female professionals called Circle of Women. On International Women’s Day last week, it announced that it was opening the program up for its clients to participate and that Nissan was one of the first registrants.

The Circle of Women program first launched a year ago as a way to find top female talent in its office and help cultivate them into future leaders. It was originally targeted at women that were already close to leadership and included speaker sessions, executive coaching, and group training. TBWA says that expanding Circle of Women to willing partners will help clients develop their own staff and allow for deeper ties between participating companies.
Before the program started at Nissan, TWBA sent a survey to female Nissan marketing staff and uncovered that there are key issues for those employees. Those include double standards, inability to see themselves in leadership positions, feeling disrespected, and lack of work flexibility. The program also used the questionnaire to determine that the key things it should develop are a sense of career direction, advice on how to advance in the company from those further up the ladder, and developing a community of advocates.

Circle of Women @ Nissan, the first client event hosted by TBWA, will officially lunch on April 18 in NYC during the New York International Auto Show. While Nissan has introduced programs in the past to assist women in its workforce, this is a much bigger step towards gender parity in its workplace.
