The Box, a new design studio from Nissan in Latin America, is now open. Built as a creative lab, The Box will challenge designers to develop new mobility solutions that effectively bridge the gap between Japanese, Latin American, and Brazilian cultures and aesthetics.

“The Box is a key milestone that demonstrates our commitment to secure a sustainable global future,” said John Sahs, Nissan’s chief designer for Latin America. “We’re thinking of mobility from a wider perspective that goes far beyond cars. Nissan is developing new technologies worldwide that are also transforming the design and shape of our models. We will work and think inside The Box to create positive and disruptive changes outside the box.”
The studio features a creative zone (C-Zone), a lounge, and an open concept, which promotes a collaborative work environment. A Japanese Zen garden adds a naturally beautiful and soothing element to the studio and is complemented by a porchlike-area. Designers who work in the studio were responsible for the design of the meeting room table and stairs as well as most of the design that defines the studio’s interior.
According to Nissan, “The new studio is part of the expansion strategy of Nissan Latin America, which celebrated five years last April, and will pay a key role in the company’s global growth. It will work in collaboration with Nissan’s design studios located in Japan, London, Shanghai, and San Diego.
