For the past 60 years, Nissan has centered its East African operations in Kenya. To celebrate this enduring legacy, the automaker revealed a new model this week, the all-new Nissan Navara double cab. The new model debut was part of a media event close to the automaker’s Nairobi sales and service facility. Also displayed were crossovers, people carriers, and pickup trucks.

“Kenya is one of Nissan’s oldest markets, and we are proud to partner with the MOTUS Group in serving our customers in the country through Nissan Kenya. We have also chosen Kenya for the head office of our East African hub, and it houses our regional team that looks after all of the surrounding markets,” said Jim Dando, director for sales and operations for Nissan Group of Africa.

The all-new Nissan Navara is equipped with the new 2.3-liter twin-turbodiesel engine. This impressive powerhouse is rated at 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque. Drivers can choose between an automatic and manual transmission to pair with the innovative engine. Four-wheel drive is also an option on the capable pickup. It boasts advanced technologies including a “fully independent rear suspension” and the choice of three well-equipped trim levels.

“We have driven many thousands of testing kilometres locally to ensure that the suspension lives up to its on-paper promises. In the end, we are confident that the new set-up delivers not only a more comfortable and sure-footed ride than previously available in the double cab market, but it also comfortably carries a tonne in the loading bay,” said Dando.
