Nissan recently unveiled the world’s fastest car. That’s right! Just before the 2013 LeMans race, Nissan showed off their Zero Emissions On-Demand Racing Car; or Nissan ZEOD RC. The prototype is powered by the same lithium-ion battery featured in the Nissan LEAF® no-gas electric car.
Nissan also announced that they will be entering the electric race car in the 2014 24-hour LeMans race. This speed innovation is capable of accelerating to 186 miles-per-hour. Before then, Nissan will be testing various types and combinations of electric motors and gasoline engines. All of this careful planning will optimize power and efficiency. The ZEOD RC will compete under LeMans’ “Garage 56” classification. This is reserved for one technology innovative vehicle to compete in the competition.
The brand will be posting progress updates on the development of the ZOED RC on the electric car’s Nismo.tv YouTube channel throughout the year. We can’t wait to see what Nissan will develop as the prep to race the world’s fastest car.
