Only a Few Changes Are Planned for the 2019 Chevy Suburban

The Chevy Suburban will include a few minor changes for the 2019 model year

In 2020, Chevrolet is likely to introduce an all-new Suburban that shares a platform with the new Silverado 1500 pickup. That means the 2019 Chevy Suburban is debuting with only a few changes for the upcoming model year.

As previously reported, the Suburban RST Performance Package is new for 2019. It will be available on the Premier trim level. This package was first introduced last year for the Chevrolet Tahoe, and it was so popular that Chevy decided to expand it to the Suburban.

The RST Performance Package includes a variety of performance-boosting features, including a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 L86 engine, a Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission, sport-calibrated Magnetic Ride Control suspension, a two-speed active transfer case for 4WD, a 3.23 rear axle ratio, a 170-amp alternator, a high-capacity air cleaner, and 22-inch wheels.

The 2019 Suburban is also receiving a few exterior changes. It will be available in one new color, Shadow Gray Metallic. Meanwhile, two colors have been deleted: Havana Metallic and Tungsten Metallic.

For the Premier trim, there will be a redesigned Premier badge on the tailgate.

In other exterior updates, the Suburban’s dealer-installed rear fascia closeout feature will now be available in a fifth color, Shadow Gray Metallic.

With three rows, a V8 engine, and the ability to tow up to 8,300 pounds, the Suburban is Chevy’s largest SUV — and one of the largest SUVs available, period. Now in its 12th generation, the Suburban nameplate has been in production since 1935.
