Quick Lane BowlThe Detroit Lions kicked off the 2014-2015 NFL season on Monday night by going off on the New York Manningfaces in front of a capacity home crowd at Ford Field. The Lions and the automaker for which the stadium gets its name recently announced an agreement wherein Ford’s Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers would be named the title sponsor of the annual NCAA bowl game at Ford Field. Starting with this year’s game, which airs the day after Christmas at 4:30pm EST, the game shall be known as the Quick Lane Bowl.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to help kick off a new football tradition,” said Frederiek Toney, vice president, Ford Motor Company and president, Ford Customer Service. “With more than 700 Quick Lanes available in communities across the United States, we’re hoping to continue to raise awareness among consumers about the fast service, value and convenience our Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center delivers.”

Tickets for the Quick Lane Bowl are already available at quicklanebowl.com, the Ford Field box office, or by calling 877-212-8898. Naturally, there are no teams set for the game yet, but there’s at least a chance it’ll be Michigan or Michigan State on account of neither likely reaching the playoffs in its inaugural year because the Big 10 is a joke.

With the Quick Lane Bowl, the Lions become the second NFL team to host and operate a bowl game—the Houston Texans being the first.

“With a national platform to showcase the city of Detroit as well as Southeast Michigan football tradition, it was important for us to partner with an organization like Quick Lane who has a strong local and national presence,” said Detroit Lions President Tom Lewand. “We look forward to collaborating to institute a great bowl game tradition at Ford Field for years to come.”
