Report: 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Will Possess 604 HP Engine
Fresh off the highest sales month in the history of the company, Mercedes-Benz is making news again, but this time it comes in the form of a leaked brochure that revealed the performance numbers for the upcoming 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63.
According to the document that recently leaked via GermanCarForum.com, the new E63 will boast 563 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, whereas the even more powerful E63 S model will crank out 604 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque.
The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 will make use of the Mercedes-AMG M177 engine, which is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 motor that the German automaker has also used in its latest AMG C63 and C63 S models. Furthermore, the brochure also revealed the new E63 will make use of a nine-speed automatic transmission and will be available in either front-wheel or 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
As for acceleration abilities, the E63 will be able to rocket from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3.7 seconds, while the E63 S is capable of covering the same distance in just 3.5 seconds. Both E63 variants will be electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph.
The news that the upcoming Mercedes-AMG E63 will surpassed the 600 horsepower hurdle shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as this news has been rumored for months. The main competition for the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 should be other premium sport sedans with more than 600 ponies, such as the Audi RS 7 Performance and Cadillac CTS-V.
Automobile Magazine has speculated that the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 could possibly make an appearance at the Paris Motor Show later this year.
