Shocker: The Camaro Sold Better than the Mustang Once Again
August marked the fifth month in a row this year that the Camaro sold better than the Mustang. Despite this success for the Chevy Camaro, however, sales were down from July, at just 8,134 models sold. (The Mustang’s sales were also down, from 6,564 units to just 5,878.)
Sales of the Camaro this August were also down compared to August 2013, when GM managed to move 8,875 models off the lot. This seemed to be a trend for the entire brand, however, which saw a 1 percent decrease in sales year-over-year. Oddly enough, Mustang sales rose over last August, but by a narrow margin: just 0.2 percent.
It hasn’t just been the last five months that the Camaro has beat out the Mustang, however. The Camaro also currently leads for the entire year, with 64,767 units sold through August, while only 56,673 Mustangs have made it off dealer lots this year. The arrival of the 2015 Ford Mustang could turn things around, however, before the end of the year.
Do you think the Camaro will hold its lead through the end of 2014?
