The 2019 Ford Ranger is only just now hitting the market, but it already appears that a total replacement is on the way for 2021. Australian auto outlet Wheels has pictures of what appears to be the next-generation Ranger, noting similarities between the look of the midsize pickup and the recently revealed 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty.

“Check out how alike the C-shaped LED headlights, six-point grille garnish, and square front foglight housings are, while the taillights and shape of the chrome back bumpers seem nearly identical,” writes Wheels Byron Mathioudakis. “Even the spoked alloys are very similar.”

And the assertion is not wrong. The photos, which Wheels says were snapped in a suburb of Melbourne, reveal a truck that bears striking similarities to the new Super Duty and very clearly boast Ford F-Series DNA. The proportions of the truck are seemingly quite close to that of the current Ranger, which would lead one to believe that this may very well be the new-look Ranger bound for global markets in 2021 or so.

In January, Road & Track reported signs pointing to the ongoing development of the next-generation Ford Ranger Raptor, which would likely be bound for the United States.

Ford recently revealed a new Ranger for Europe, hot on the heels of the launch of the 2019 Ranger in the United States. Though Ford is now reporting sales on a quarterly basis, the decision last month to add “massive overtime” at Michigan Assembly Plant for Ranger production suggests that the midsize pickup is having little trouble finding an audience in its short time on the market.
