Cadillac kicked off 2016 with a down month for sales, but with the upcoming launches of both the CT6 sedan and the XT5 crossover, its fortunes are likely quick to turn around.
Cadillac’s sales totaled 10,740 units in January, down 8% from January 2015. At retail, sales dipped 27.3% at a total of 7,982 units sold. While sales volume was down, the brand notes that it was able to maintain its record highs for average transaction price and continues to lead various segments in that regard.
The sole vehicle in Cadillac’s lineup to post a year-over-year sales increase was the SRX, which was up 37.1% at a total of 4,778 units sold. Sales of the Escalade were down 26.3% at a total of 1,227 units sold, and Escalade ESV sales fell 29.5% at a total of 775 units.
Cadillac’s car sales were also down, a continued indicator of the consumer turn toward SUVs and trucks. Sales of the ATS totaled 1,067 units, CTS sales totaled 1,013 units, XTS sales totaled 1,813 units, and ELR sales totaled 67 units.
