Interesting Facts About St. Patrick

• St. Patrick’s color was actually blue. He only became associated with green in the late 18th century, because of the Irish independence movement.
• It’s only a myth that this saint drove snakes out of Ireland. This region was too chilly for reptiles during the Ice Age, as the fossil record evidences.
• St. Patrick wasn’t actually Irish; he was born to Roman parents in Wales or Scotland in the late fourth century.
• His original name was Maewyn Succat but he changed it to Patricius once he took up the priesthood.
