Stephen Strasburg’s powerful pitching led the Washington Nationals to a World Series championship over the Houston Astros. It also earned Strasburg a series MVP award — and along with that, an all-new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8.

This long-awaited model, the first mid-engine Corvette, boasts 490 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque from its 6.2-liter V8, an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, and ferociously agile handling. It’s not clear which trim level Strasburg will get, but the Corvette C8’s price starts at just $59,995 for the base 1LT.

There’s one catch for the Nationals righthander: He’ll have to wait to actually enjoy his prize. Although Strasburg did pose with Corvette C8 for a photo op after Game 7 of the series, Chevrolet notes that this vehicle was just “representative.”

That’s because Corvette C8 isn’t supposed to go into production until January, and the recent General Motors strike may have moved that target date back even further. So Strasburg is looking at a delay of at least three to four months before he can get behind the wheel of his new ride.

The World Series MVP has received a new Chevrolet vehicle as a reward for 14 straight years. In 2018, Steve Pearce of the Boston Red Sox got a new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss truck. The 2017 winner, George Springer of the Houston Astros, took home a Silverado as well: a 2018 Centennial Edition. In 2016, Ben Zobrist of the Chicago Cubs scored a 2017 Camaro SS 50th anniversary special edition.
