Subaru Sets its Own April Sales Record

Subaru continues its string of success by setting a new April sales record for the brand.

April saw a 7.7 percent increase over April 2018 with 57,228 units sold, thanks to the popularity of the 2019 Forester, Ascent, Outback. This marks the automaker’s 62nd straight month of selling over 40,000 cars and SUVs

This also entailed 89 months of continued month-over-month and yearly growth. To date, Subaru has moved 214,042 vehicles off dealership lots and into homes.

Leading the way

The three models above echoed the overall numbers set by Subaru. April marked 69 consecutive months for the Forester in selling over 10,000 SUVs, with the Outback hitting 62 repeated months of growth.

“April saw another Subaru monthly sales record and the reveal of our all-new 2020 Subaru Outback at the New York International Auto Show, both strong indicators of a record sales year to come,” said Thomas J. Doll. “And thanks to the amazing efforts of our retailers, both the current Outback and new Forester maintained a very strong sales pace in a highly competitive marketplace.”

While the Forester increased its sales by 8.1 percent over last April, the Outback had the best month overall with a 16.3 percent surge from April 2018. The Ascent SUV moved 6,512 vehicles as well.

Awarded reputation

Their performance numbers reflect the awards given out to the automaker during the month of April. AutoTrader added the Ascent to its 12 Best New Cars for 2019. Parents Magazine’s 10 Best Family Cars of 2019 also included the Ascent and Forester.

Finally, Subaru took home its fifth consecutive Most Trusted Brand award from Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards.
