As exciting as the newest iteration of the Chevy Camaro is, the vintage versions of this model definitely have a unique appeal. If you prefer the retrospective styling cues and more angular profiles of older Camaros, you should take a gander at Forgeline’s pro-touring style 1970 Camaro.

The story behind the Forgeline Camaro

Dave Schardt, President of Forgeline Motorsports, describes the car as the culmination of a dream that he and his team had had on the back burner for a while. “We’re a long-time supporter of this segment of the performance aftermarket and have been the wheel of choice for many of the builders and the cars that have made these pro-touring events so popular. […] This year, it’s our turn to participate.”

Forgeline enlisted the help of top-notch manufacturers to construct the ’70 Camaro. Smitty’s Custom Automotive based in Tiffin, Ohio did the vehicle build. And veteran SEMA Show project vehicle builder Trent Van Arsdalen with Trent’s Trick Upholstery in New Baltimore, Ohio gets the credit for the Camaro’s unique interior.

About the ’70 Camaro

The all-black cabin features hand-rubbed leather in the door inserts and headliner.  The dashboard boasts an upholstered girder-style design with embossing. Van Arsdalen also molded the interior door handles into the arm rest, for the driver’s convenience. The cabin incorporates LED headlights and taillights and a Vintage Air air-conditioning system. Recaro seats and a California Custom Sounds stereo elevate the driving experience.

The Forgeline ’70 Camaro is as track-ready as it is stylish. It’s powered by a Lingenfelter-tuned LT4 engine. A modified Tremec T56 transmission with ZR1 gears and Centerforce DYAD extreme-duty clutch regulate the horsepower.

For the suspension, Forgeline endowed the Camaro with a Detroit Speed hydroformed subframe with tubular control arms in front. In back, the car employs a Detroit Speed QUADRALink rear suspension and adjustable anti-roll bar system.

Forgeline also included Electronic RideTech Instinct shocks for a smoother ride. A RideTech TigerCage delivers increased passenger protection and enhanced chassis rigidity. The ’70 Camaro also relies on Baer Brakes’ 14-inch diameter Extreme 6R disc brakes, as well as Forgeline aluminum wheels and BFG Rival S tires.
