Not everyone can afford to head to Kenya for a beautiful safari ride. However, Americans are lucky to have some great safaris located in the U.S. Here are some of the best safaris to check out on your next road trip.

A Family-Friendly Vacation: San Diego activities kids will enjoy

San Diego Zoo Safari Park, California

While the San Diego Zoo is still a fantastic way to see animals, you can’t beat the up-close encounters at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. You can choose between a Cart Safari, Behind-the-Scenes Safari, or Caravan Safari for great opportunities to snap pictures of animals, such as elephants, lions, and giraffes.

Lion Country Safari, Florida

The Lion Country Safari opened in 1967, making it the very first drive-thru wildlife preserve in America. Here, you can drive right beside chimpanzees, zebras, and wildebeests. You get to drive your own vehicle through the preserve, so you can move at your own pace and make the most out of the experience.

Wild Animal Safari, Georgia

As another drive-thru park that allows you to drive your vehicle, the Wild Animal Safari offers a 3.5-mile drive with water buffalo, elk, and camels. You can even feed the animals on your ride. If you don’t feel like driving your own vehicle, you can also hop on a guided bus tour or rent a large Zebra Van.

The Wilds, Ohio

At The Wilds, you can take an open-air safari ride through areas with rhinos and giraffes. You can also get a behind-the-scenes perspective on the Wildside Tour or see animals in winter housing on The Winter at The Wilds Tour.

Advice for Animal Lovers: How to drive with your pet

Whether you’re looking for an Instagram-worthy picture or want to be closer to wildlife than ever before, you’re bound to have fun at any of these safaris in the U.S.
