With 2014 all over but for the shouting (there’s likely to be plenty of that going on tomorrow night when the ball drops), the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has released its comprehensive list of vehicles honored with the distinction of being Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+.
Three of Nissan’s core vehicles—the 2015 Altima, Rogue, and Pathfinder—all scored Top Safety Pick rankings for earning high marks in five different crash tests.

To earn the Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must earn an “acceptable” or “good” rating in the small overlap front test. Rogue and Pathfinder both pulled down “good” rankings, and the Altima scored an “acceptable” rating.
Also, the vehicles were required to earn ratings of “good” in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats testing. All three vehicles proved their mettle, which proved enough to earn the coveted honor.
The 2015 Rogue also earned a “basic” score for front crash detection when equipped with the Premium Package’s Forward Collision Warning, just missing earning the Top Safety Pick+.
Clearly, safety is something to shout about with these three Nissans.
Apologies. My New Year’s resolution is to stop making puns.
