[VIDEO] Top Gear Tests Nissan ZEOD RC

Nissan came up short in its goal of getting the ZEOD RC across the finish line at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year, but it was able to rack up the dual accomplishments of the first-ever all-electric lap at the Circuit de la Sarthe and the fastest all-electric lap ever recorded (186 mph) on the Mulsanne Straight. While our look at the ZEOD was unfortunately cut short at Le Mans by a bad gearbox, the folks over at Top Gear are giving us a second glance.

 

Naturally, the entire video is beautiful (it is, after all, a Top Gear production), and editor Ollie Marriage handles the car masterfully as it tears across the Top Gear test track.

“It’s quite a difficult car to get your head ‘round, really,” says Marriage. “Because of the way it looks like a dart a bit with all these narrow wheels at the front, your brain tells you it can’t work, but it drives…just like a normal racing car, the difference being of course is that you have the electricity’s vast torque.”
