Toyota recently announced that it would begin rolling out its new telematics service, Toyota T-Connect, to its Japanese market this summer. This service offers numerous perks to Toyota drivers and is designed to make journeys easier by providing support, directions, and information. Taking over from Toyota’s G-BOOK service, T-Connect offers support for drivers in numerous ways.
First, Toyota T-Connect features an interactive voice response service, known as “Agent.” This service provides the driver with information about locations, news, traffic, weather, and road surface conditions. Unlike G-BOOK, which used live human representatives, T-Connect uses a fully-automated system designed to support open-ended queries.
Toyota T-Connect also allows drivers to download certain apps directly to their in-car navigation systems. In addition, the service comes with standard Wi-Fi connectivity, a T-Connect smartphone app, and improved online help service. All in all, we expect T-Connect to be a hit with Japanese drivers, and hope that means it’ll be headed to our shores sooner rather than later!
