Toyota’s Jim Lentz
Every year, at the Automotive Hall of Fame’s Gala, certain key players in the auto industry are given a huge shout out for their contributions that year, as well as back through their careers. This year, at the 75th Anniversary Gala, Toyota’s Jim Lentz was named Industry Leader of the Year, and inducted into the hall of fame for his many years of service not just to Toyota, but to the industry as a whole.
Jim Lentz began his career with Toyota back in 1982 as the Portland region’s merchandising manager. Over the years, Lentz has worn many hats, including Toyota division group vice president and general manager, vice president of marketing, and vice president of Scion. Lentz is currently chief executive officer of Toyota North America.
After receiving the prestigious award, Lentz commented, “I am honored to be accepting this distinguished award. I accept it on behalf of my teammates, the more than 40,000 Toyota associates in North America who have helped me achieve this dream.”
Additional figures recognized at the gala included Ken Gross—a writer, curator, and historian—and Frank Venegas, Jr—chairman and chief executive officer of Detroit-based Ideal Group. They, and Jim Lentz, join the almost 300 people inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame since 1939.
