According to U.S. News & World Report, drivers looking for a high-quality, low-cost subcompact SUV should consider the 2019 Hyundai Kona.

The magazine recently recognized the Kona as its 2019 Best Subcompact SUV for the Money, citing the vehicle’s nimble handling, surprisingly high-quality cabin, and starting price of less than $20,000.

For its annual Best Cars for the Money list, U.S. News analyzes vehicles in 14 different segments, awarding the SUVs, minivans, and cars that offer the best mix of value and quality. To compile its list, the magazine uses information from its own Best Cars rankings, pricing numbers from TrueCar, and cost-of-ownership data from Vincentric.

“We are honored for Kona to receive the distinction of Best Compact SUV for the Money from U.S. News & World Report in just its first year of production,” said Mike O’Brien, Hyundai Motor America’s vice president of product, corporate, and digital planning. “Kona is defining new standards for the segment, packing cutting-edge connectivity and class-leading available safety features in a stylish and functional CUV.”

In addition to the qualities noted by U.S. News, the Kona also offers an array of high-value standard features. Each model is equipped with a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with audio and Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel. Standard safety tech for the Kona includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.
