One look at the 2019 Nissan Maxima, and you’re sure to notice its sleek lines and eye-catching design. But, if you look beyond the surface, you’ll get a glimpse of some pretty innovative safety tech, systems, and features. The stylish sedan from Nissan prioritizes safety, and U.S. News & World Report has noticed, naming the 2019 Nissan Maxima to its list of the “25 Safest Cars of 2019.”

“Among the select large sedans left on the market, the Nissan Maxima is one of your best bets when it comes to safety, scoring Good in all six of the IIHS’ primary tests,” writes U.S. News & World Report writer Cherise Threewitt.

Of particular note to U.S. News editors is that the Nissan Maxima offers innovative driver assist technologies as standard features. You won’t have to pay extra for systems such as Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Brake Assist, rearview camera, Intelligent Driver Alertness or Rear Door Alert.

“While the driver attention monitor is becoming more common as an option, it’s still rare to see as standard outside of the luxury segment,” according to Threewitt.

Another standard feature, which keeps tabs on your car’s most important safety equipment, is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System with Easy-Fill Tire Alert.

The list of driver assist technologies expands as does your peace of mind behind the wheel when you factor in the 2019 Maxima’s available tech such as Traffic Sign Recognition, High Beam Assist, Intelligent Around View Monitor, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
