Vauxhall was named the fourth-highest-ranked brand in all of the United Kingdom in J.D. Power’s 2016 UK Vehicle Dependability Study. With a score of 90 problems per 100 vehicles, Vauxhall was able to move up five spots from its standing in the first-annual UK version of the study and simultaneously breeze past brands including Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.
The study, which analyzes the reliability of vehicles by polling original owners within the first 12-36 months of ownership, looks at issues affecting everything from the engine and transmission to the HVAC and audio systems. These issues are averaged out per 100 vehicles, meaning that vehicles with scores of 100 or less see less than one problem per vehicle during the first three years of ownership.
Vauxhall’s score of 90 sat well above the industry average of 113 problems per 100 vehicles and was a full average problem per vehicle lower than the last-place brand, Land Rover (197 pp100).
Vauxhall also took the top award in the Midsize Car segment with the Insignia, which averaged 16 pp100 vehicles fewer than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The Vauxhall Mokka also ranked in the top three for Compact SUVs, while the Corsa tied for third in the Small Car category.
“It is brilliant to see that our cars are performing well for durability after they have left the showroom,” said Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director. “Providing high-quality, reliable vehicles is a priority of ours, and to see models across the range achieve these results and outperform their premium rivals is great.”
