DO NOT admit fault
No matter how you think the accident happened, do not admit fault at the scene; this is for your protection. There can be a myriad of variables that affect an auto accident and some that even you aren’t aware of. Simply put, call the police, your insurance company, and do not admit fault.
DO NOT allow others to leave
It’s important that others involved in an accident do not leave the scene without giving you their insurance and personal info. In some cases, if another party knows they are at fault, they might try to leave for fear of repercussions. Insist that they provide their info as soon as possible, and if they try to leave, get pictures of their vehicle, their face, and their license plate to provide to police.
DO NOT move your vehicle
