Information about the YouGov BrandIndex study

YouGov BrandIndex looked at 1,753 different brands in the study, collecting data from September 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019. The respondents within the study were all individuals between the ages of 18 and 34 years old.

Initially, the study wanted to garner whether or not there was positive buzz surrounding each brand. To do so, the study asked participants, “Have you heard anything positive about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news, or word of mouth?” YouGov BrandIndex then eliminated any brands that had low response volumes to this question.

For the next round, the study aimed to rank the remaining brands, using Word of Mouth scores. As such, the study asked participants, “Which of the following brands have you talked about with friends and family in the past two weeks (whether in person, online, or through social media)?”

Mitsubishi Motors was found to be the third highest Word of Mouth Improver. This positive ranking comes at a time when Mitsubishi is working to reinvent itself in the U.S. Mitsubishi is currently set to have annual sales growth for the seventh year in a row. In addition, Mitsubishi has been increasing its dealership network and is focusing on its “Small Batch” vision to be an ambitious and innovative brand.
