BMW i Series Will Add New Model Soon
The BMW i Series vehicles take preconceived notions of electric cars and throw them out of the window. The BMW i3 is a capable city car, made of sustainable materials, and the BMW i8 is a sleek sports car with the fuel consumption of a much smaller car.
To make the i Series even better, BMW CEO Harald Krüger recently confirmed that there is another car on the way to the lineup. There aren’t many details, but we do know that it will be a larger vehicle than the i3. Krüger also confirmed that the next vehicle in the BMW i Series lineup will be completely electric.
The team at Digital Trends predicts that BMW might release new details in the next few months, and they are optimistic that the auto show season will arrive with a concept car with more hints as to the direction of this mystery vehicle.
Besides announcing a new vehicle in the works, Krüger told a German newspaper that BMW is hard at work on the next generation of the two existing cars in the i Series. Engineers are focusing on extending, maybe even doubling, the range of the EV models by 2019. To put it in perspective, that means the new BMW i3 would be able to drive about 200 miles on one charge, and that’s without starting the optional gas engine.
What shape do you think the new i Series car will take? Will it be another tall car, like the i3, or will it be a large sedan like the more traditional BMW offerings?
