Honda is working to bring a bit of well-deserved holiday cheer to patients at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County this year with a unique virtual reality adventure. Honda’s The Magic Snow Globe VR experience provides each patient the opportunity to go inside a snow globe and experience all the holiday-themed magic it contains via virtual reality.

“One of the great things about kids is their incredible imagination. We wanted to use their creativity to bring them a truly magical holiday experience, tailored to each child, and to remind them that nothing should stop the joy of the holidays,” said Susie Rossick, Assistant Vice President, Honda Automotive Marketing.

Each child entered a magical world populated by happy snowmen and woodland creatures through the aid of a “shrinking machine.” There, they made their own customized snowman, which much to their surprise was waiting for them in tangible form after exiting the virtual world. Last year, Honda used virtual reality to provide patients at CHOC Children’s with the “Ultimate Get Well Card”; in 2016, patients at CHOC Children’s went for a trip down “Candy Cane Lane.”

Honda’s commitment to support CHOC Children’s goes beyond even this wonderful example. This year, Honda has donated $50,000 to both CHOC Children’s and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Honda’s charity partner of more than 27 years committed to helping children and teens with brain tumors.

Below, you can check out a fully immersive 360-degree video that shows just what the kids saw.
