Honda’s “Celebration of Dreams” Float to Lead the 2019 Rose Parade
The very first Rose Parade was held in 1890 in Pasadena, California, and was hosted by members of the Pasadena Valley Hunt Club. Honda first collaborated with the Rose Parade in 1961 and has shown up with beautiful, flower-adorned floats ever since. This year, to celebrate the automaker’s 60-year history, Honda will lead the parade with a birthday-themed “Celebration of Dreams” float.

The birthday cake float’s candles will be represented by 60 members of Historically Black College and University marching bands. Honda has showcased its commitment to the HBCU community and music education by hosting its Battle of the Bands event since 2003. The 2018 HBOB featured bands from Miles College, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Prairie View A&M, Hampton, North Carolina A&T, Bethune-Cookman, and Tennessee State.
“For 60 years, Honda has celebrated the power of dreams and has been committed to making the communities where we live and work better places for future generations,” said Steve Morikawa, vice president of Corporate Relations & Social Responsibility, American Honda. “We look forward to celebrating this anniversary with our customers while continuing to provide products and services that will bring them joy for years to come.”

The main floral creation will be surrounded by five roaming units, each representing Honda themes, milestones, and products: Honda Super Cub, Environment, Safety, American Manufacturing, and Future. Aligning with the environmental theme, the float will be powered by a low-emission Honda hybrid powertrain while the Parade’s theme banner float will also be powered by Honda hybrid technology. In addition, the 2019 Honda Insight will be the Official Pace Car of the 2019 Rose Parade.
The 130th Rose Parade presented by Honda airs at 11 a.m. EST (8 a.m. PST) on January 1, 2019.
