Kevin Harvick Drove 1969 Chevy Camaro SS to Woodward Dream Cruise
There were over forty thousand cars at this month’s 2015 Woodward Dream Cruise in Metro Detroit, attracting more than one million auto enthusiasts. One of those 1,000,000 attendees was none other than NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick, and one of those 40,000 automobiles was his 1969 Chevy Camaro SS.
Harvick told WXYZ-TV Detroit that he’s only actually driven his vintage Camaro SS on the road a couple of times, but when he heard about the Woodward Dream Cruise—an annual event in Metro Detroit in which classic cars parade down Woodward Avenue—he knew he and his SS had to be a part of it.
“I’d never been to this particular event,” said Harvick. “But to learn more about it and see the enthusiasm—anything that brings this many people to one area, no matter where it is, is something that’s pretty special.”
It’s nice to know that even a racecar driver can appreciate a calm, leisurely cruise from time to time. Let’s hope that Harvick had enough fun to come back to the Woodward Dream Cruise again next year—or at least start taking his classic Camaro out on the road more often!
