What’s New for the 2014 Chevy Malibu
Chevrolet has updated the Malibu with subtle enhancements inside and out for the 2014 model year, including additional rear-seat legroom, a new center console, and refreshed front-end styling. Several of the 2014 Malibu’s engines have also been tweaked to upgrade performance, as well as fuel economy.
2014 Chevy Malibu Exterior
The 2014 Chevy Malibu is the epitome of a quality midsize family sedan, but it also delivers sculpted exterior lines that will make on-lookers wonder what is working under the hood. The new front fascia works with standard 16-inch alloy wheels to deliver a commanding stance.
2014 Chevy Malibu Performance
The 2014 Chevy Malibu’s base engine is a capable 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 196 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The Malibu’s mild-hybrid will undergo a transition in 2014, which will see the Eco badge move from a 182 horsepower, 2.4-liter engine paired with an electric motor to a 2.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor that should boost performance a bit. The highest-performing engine in the lineup is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that pumps out 259 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
2014 Chevy Malibu Efficiency
The base 2.5-liter engine returns an impressive 25 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, and 2.4-liter Eco engine bumps that number to 38 mpg highway. The high-performing, turbocharged engine still returns a notable 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The Chevy Malibu’s fuel economy ratings got a boost in 2014 thanks to new auto stop-start technology.
2014 Chevy Malibu Interior
According to Edmunds.com, “the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu stands out from the crowd with a cabin that, from a design standpoint, verges on entry-level luxury car territory.” Couple that with a slew of available technology, including dual-zone automatic climate control, the Chevy MyLink infotainment system with smartphone integration, and navigation, and the 2014 Malibu’s interior is unrivaled.
2014 Chevy Malibu Safety
Standard safety features in the 2014 Chevy Malibu includes traction and stability control, OnStar, and a comprehensive suite of airbags. The available advanced safety package includes forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts.
